I‘ve been busy working on this the whole day, hoping to be able to add these to the novels. I’ve got to admit–I didn’t really like the idea of a character list in the past. Mainly, I write with the idea of immersion in mind, and while I as a writer am keeping track of everything in the background, I’m only expecting the reader to pay attention to what’s unfolding in front of them. I myself never usually read these lists in other novels–I usually find them too full of spoilers and I enjoy discovering threads and relationships myself over the course of time.
However, as more and more people read this, I sort of belatedly realized that…yes, other people are now reading this. And the response has been more or less, “We like it…can you explain more?” More? You mean–this isn’t a figment of my imagination any more? And in the meantime, my husband and friends have been busy stashing away my maps, drawings, worldbuilding notes, and super sexy unreleased editions of Jaeth’s Eye** in the hopes of someday selling them in the case of my untimely death. Many of these notes are non-canonical, i.e. I wrote them out to explore certain things, but no, certain characters don’t get married and have six kids before the end of the series.
Anyway, I’ve blabbed on too long. Here’s the list. Read at your own peril, this is a comprehensive list and includes most characters all the way up to Sapphire’s Flight. I’ve tried my best to avoid spoilers but you might see one anyway. If you don’t care and/or have read the books, and you’ve noticed that I’ve missed someone, let me know, preferably before May 16.
** The first proofs of Jaeth’s Eye includes some very detailed Ylir sexy times. The general public has been spared this atrocity.
