Tetsung is the youngest son of Magga alon gar Shoho, one of the leading rice merchants of Western Jin-Sayeng. His family’s estate–which mostly consists of about three hundred oxen square of rice fields–are situated in the Sougen plains, north of Fuyyu. The Shoho family is an old, proud family, one of the first to stake out a claim in the west. They helped fund the efforts of the Seven Shadows, a group of merchants-turned-assassins who helped the alon gar–the merchant caste–become a reality during Reshiro aren dar Ikessar’s reign.
Tetsung is a romantic, but also practical and dutiful lad whose loyalty to his family and friends is unwavering.
“Tell me,” he whispered, “that you are loved, where you are.”
