Last weekend, we went up to the Purcell Mountains in BC to do an overnight hike and some sightseeing. I’ve been wanting to go up to this area for years, but have not been able to build up the stamina to do so until now.
By stamina, I don’t mean about the actual hike itself. I mean that the idea of four long days without a shower just didn’t sit well with me.
But, we finally took the plunge, and I’m happy to say that four days of dirt didn’t kill me. Neither did 18 km of hiking, half of which was done in cold, pouring rain WITH LIGHTNING which is just what you like to see after a weather forecast of “sunny, with occasional cloud”. At least the lake was gorgeous:
The mountains were also gorgeous. I may have OD’ed a little on them–on the way back, we passed by Kootenay National Park and Banff National Park and all I could think of was I WANT TO HIKE ALL THE MOUNTAINS.
I mean, showers? Who needs them, anyway?
Read The Agartes Epilogues, where the characters certainly don’t take as much showers as they should.
wowwww, looks absolutely stunning!!
Beautiful shots…I miss British Columbia
